The band were on top form, despite their time apart. It was the only way. “Welcome to Defiance” particularly showed it. Floyd London handled the supple bassline with nimble fingers. Warwick’s vocals were strong and clear, here as throughout. Guitarist Andy “Tantrum” McCafferty delivered the edgy and unconventional guitar solo with ease, as he had with all the other solos, long and short, throughout the set. Stump Monroe on drums did not miss a beat throughout the set.
Northern Irish rocker (and the current Thin Lizzy frontman) Ricky Warwick is back out on the road in support of his latest album, “When Life Was Hard and Fast” and we took a trip to see him come out to play to the faithful at sub89 in Reading.
Hver gang man tror at man har sett det siste til Thin Lizzy, så dukker de opp igjen, i stadig nye konstellasjoner. I 2016 og ’17 er det Scott Gorham og Darren Wharton som er linken til gamle dager med Phil Lynott, mens vi satte oss ned med vokalist Ricky Warwick og trommis Scott Travis (til daglig i Judas Priest) like før de gikk på scenen i England sommeren 2016.
