delving | All Paths Diverge

Above all, the album is a journey in sound exploration by a remarkable mind, which I recommend you embark upon.

Stickman Records

The instrumental psych-kraut-prog-rock project delving, headed by Nicholas DiSalvo (the frontman of Elder), explores instrumental music with an emphasis on psychedelic rock, krautrock, early electronic music and ambient sounds. ‘All Paths Diverge’ is delving’s second full-length album and was composed between time on tour and in the studio with Elder. DiSalvo is joined by Michael Risberg (Elder, Weite), Ingwer Boysen (Weite) and Uno Bruniusson (Maggot Heart).

As the album is a kaleidoscope of soundscapes, breaking it down track by track seems to subtract from the experience of listening to it as a whole, but ‘Zodiak’, a progressive piece which transitions between 70s prog and ambient textures displays some of the most heavy and progressive moments of the album. It is the album’s longest and most expansive track at over 13 minutes, although the single edit is shorter. If you are looking for a single track to introduce you to delving, this is it, and it includes a powerful guitar section from Elder’s Michael Risberg.
