Forty-five years together and still releasing new material, Simple Minds show no signs of slowing down with the release of another studio album, “Direction of the Heart”. We spoke to Jim Kerr about the album and the secret behind the band’s longevity, and got some insight into a few older tracks “Belfast Child” and “Premonition”.
«Direction of the Heart» is Simple Minds’ 18th studio album, and their first of new material since 2018’s UK Top 5 album «Walk Between Worlds». Remarkably for a band who have been together for 45 years, the record sounds modern and fresh, but also contains hints of past hits.
“Unless you’ve been kidnapped and brought here, or are just unsure, we’re Simple Minds – from Glasgow – and we’re delighted to be here” – slik introduserte Jim Kerr bandet på den første av to utsolgte kvelder på Sentrum Scene. Årets turné er en feiring av førti år med hitlåter, og man merker godt årgangen utifra størrelsen på sceneproduksjonen – og på alderen på et lojalt publikum.
